In Tucson, Arizona, the Catalina Foothills School District #16, one of the smallest districts in land area, lies just under 10 miles north-east of central Tucson and south-east of Amphitheater district.
It includes a preschool (ages 3-5), four elementary schools (grades K-5), two middle schools (grades 6-8), a high school and an alternative high school. The population numbers approximately 5000 students, 270 support staff, 340 certified staff, and 21 administrative staff in grades K-12.
The district's strategic plan 2005-2009 starts like this:
- "Our highest aspiration is that each CFSD student achieves academic and personal excellence, becomes a lifelong learner and is a responsible citizen of the world."
