Oporto (Oporto), Portugal

From the Towns, Villages and Cities Wikia

Jump to: navigation, search

Porto (or Oporto in English) is Portugal's second-largest city.

It is famous for Port Wine and as the birthplace of Prince Henry the Navigator.

Its attractions include two great modern architectural masterpieces, the Casa da Musica and Serralves Museum.

Its old historical center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with its main attractions being a medieval fortress-like cathedral, and the gold-dripping São Francisco Church.

A modern state-of-the-art metro system (both under and over ground) is the best transportation to use to get around the city.
